Prime Minister Sherif Ismail ordered that some data of the state’s economic and social development plan should be revised in coordination with the ministries concerned.
The premier made the directives during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting in which he discussed a number of important topics related to the economic and social issues in the country. At the meeting, the minister of trade and industry gave a presentation on the 2016/2020 strategy to boost the industrial development and the foreign trade. "Egypt achieved a growth rate of 4.3 percent despite the difficult conditions facing the tourism sector," the minister said. "The strategy of the industrial development targets an industrial growth of 8 percent," he added. For his part, the prime minister called for turning the items of the strategy to detailed action programs for the swift achievement of its goals. Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Authority Sherif Samy presented a report on the Egyptian criteria of financial assessment of assets. The prime minister hailed the criteria as a step to counter corruption and reduce investment disputes. Meanwhile, Minister of Planning Hala el Saeed presented the features of the government’s economic and social development plan aiming to achieve the targeted growth rates. The plan seeks boosting investments and provision of more opportunities for the participation of the private sector as well as the increase in production in various sectors, she said. The plan focuses on the main challenges facing the Egyptian economy, especially the high rates of inflation, she added. |
