 Egypt is set to sign an agreement on women empowerment with the European Commission , said Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr
Nasr, who was addressing the 4th Euro-Mediterranean conference on finance, said the projects of youth and women are among her ministry's priorities. The ministry works to increase the private sector's support to women projects and to offer jobs for them as part of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's declaration of 2017 as the year of the Egyptian woman. Nasr said Egypt is a large and lucrative market for investments, stressing that her ministry is keen on cooperating the private sector and the social society in projects initiated by the state. The ministry not only handles legal and legislative reforms, but also seeks to improve the atmosphere of businesses and investment and to support investors, said the minister. She cited measures that have been taken to ease investment procedures and to remove bureaucracy, including a draft law on investment that is currently discussed by the House of Representatives. The bill is meant to solve all problems and obstacles faced by local and foreign investors, she noted. Achieving sustainability in investment and development is the main goal of the government, she stressed. Nasr also pointed out that among investment-related decisions one to form a supreme council for investment under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to follow up investment plans and implement major economic projects. |
