 President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting with Finance Minister Amr el Garhy in the presence of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.
Garhy said the recent economic decisions started to achieve their desirable goals, citing Egypt's budget deficit which declined by 50 percent, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said. Cutting the budget deficit during the 2017/2018 fiscal year will not affect social protection programs, Garhy promised. The president, meanwhile, urged stepping up efforts to carry out economic reforms and increase spending on health and education. He further called for expanding social protection programs to alleviate the burden on low-income brackets. |
