 Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr took part in the Women 20 (W20) summit in Berlin.
The summit was attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Assistant to US President Donald Trump and Senior Counselor for Economic Initiatives Dina Powell, daughter of the US president Ivanka Trump, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland.. The summit was organized by the National Council of German Women's Organizations and the Association of German Women Entrepreneurs. . The themes of this year’s W20 dialogue process are access to the labor market and financial resources, female entrepreneurship, and digitalization. . The main aim is to anchor the economic strengthening of women as across-sectional task in all political subject areas of the G20.. The minister said that summiteers agreed on establishing the Women Economic Empowerment Fund in cooperation with the World Bank and the G20 Africa Partnership Initiative (API).. Nasr added that they also discussed means of improving women's economic conditions and promoting women's economic empowerment.. Nasr underlined that her talks with Dina Powell focused on boosting bilateral cooperation in the economic and investment fields in the coming period.. Powell, for her part, asserted the US administration's full support for Egypt.. The main goal of W20 is to promote women’s economic empowerment as an integral part of the G20 process.. In 2017, W20 will focus on the following four pillars:. 1- Labour Market Inclusion: Increasing the labour market participation rate and the value of work traditionally done by women.. 2- Financial Inclusion:Promoting female entrepreneurship and access to finance for women.. 3- Digital Inclusion: Closing the digital gender divide.. 4- Strengthening the W20: Gender Equality and Women’s Economic Empowerment at the core of G20.. |
