Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met the members of the board of directors of the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions (GFETU) in the presence of the manpower minister and the head of the GFETU.
At the beginning of the meeting, the premier greeted Egypt's workers on Labor Day that falls in May 1st, expressing his appreciation for their national role in the production and construction processes at various developmental sectors despite challenges facing them. He stressed that Egypt's loyal workers are able to push forward the production and development wheel as they are considered main partners in the construction process, adding that the state will resume supporting them and improving their livelihood. Ismail asserted that the government is committed to developing and upgrading factories as well as public sector firms to increase production and serve the national economy. He lauded the role played by the private sector and its participation in the construction process and backing the state in many fields to serve the developmental goals. For their part, the members of the GFETU expressed happiness with this fruitful meeting and keenness of the government on taking measures that contribute to pushing forward production wheel, re-operating the stalled factories and preserving the workers' rights. They submitted suggestions pertaining to upgrading the performance of the production sectors as well as some demands. The prime minister underlined that these suggestions will be studied, giving directives to hold periodical meetings with the members of the GFETU in the presence of the ministers concerned to solve problems facing workers. |
