Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr discussed in a meeting with Romanian Ambassador in Cairo Mihai ?tefan Stuparu final preparations for joint higher committee meetings, which are due to be held in Bucharest on July 26-28.
The Egyptian-Romanian Joint Committee's meetings will probe means to boost economic, scientific and technical cooperation. Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in a number of fields are expected to be inked during the committee’s meetings. The MoUs will focus on investment, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), water resources and irrigation, natural gas and tourism. Nasr underlined the distinguished economic relations between Egypt and Romania, describing the joint committee’s meetings as the main pillar for probing ways of cementing bilateral economic cooperation ties. The minister stressed the importance of organizing an Egyptian-Romanian investment forum to brief the Romanian side on the available investment opportunities in Egypt and foster bilateral cooperation in vital domains, which in turn could help increase Romanian investments in Egypt, especially in light of recent facilitation and guarantees provided by the newly-approved investment law. For his part, the Romanian diplomat pointed to the available great opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the public and private sectors, confirming that Egypt is Romania’s gateway to Africa. |
