Minister of Trade and Industry Tareq Qabil said President Sisi's planned African tour that will take him to Tanzania, Rwanda, Chad and Gabon represents an important step towards enhancing strategic relations with African states whether at the political or economic levels.
He said the economic file will top President Sisi's talks with the leaders of the four African nations he will visit. He said the Ministry of Trade and Industry has prepared an ambitious strategy for enhancing commercial and investment relations with African markets. He said five new commercial representation offices have been opened in Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, Djibouti and Cote d’Ivoire adding the first logistical center has been opened in Kenya to facilitate trade movement between Egypt and East Africa adding efforts are underway for establishing a logistic al center in Ghana or Cote d’Ivoire for developing commercial relations with West African states. Qabil said commercial relations between Egypt and African nations are witnessing remarkable increase amounting to $4.8 billion in 2016 compared to $4.5 billion in 2016. He said the value of Egyptian exports to African nations in 2016 amounted to $3.4 billion whereas imports amounted to $1.3 billion. |
