Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr and Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohamed Mamesh had talks with Singapore's Deputy Premier Teo Chee Hean on means of boosting investments in Egypt and cooperation in various domains.
The meeting was held during a two-day official visit by Nasr and Mamesh to Singapore, according to a statement by the Ministry of International Cooperation and Investment. Teo hailed the efforts exerted by Egypt over the past years, especially economic reforms. He said tangible steps have been taken to realize development in addition to establishing mammoth national projects under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Teo said Singapore is looking forward to enhancing cooperation in various domains, especially in economic and maritime transport fields as well as ports and industrial projects. Nasr hailed the strong historical ties between the two countries, noting that the visit is meant to encourage Singapore's investments in Egypt, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the new administrative capital and new Alamein city. She highlighted the importance of the new investment law which aims at luring foreign and local investments through a package of incentives. Mamesh underlined the importance of establishing the new Suez Canal which contributed to upping the number of giant ships crossing the waterway. He said Egypt is looking forward to enhancing cooperation in the ports and ships manufacturing domains. He noted that Egypt will hold talks with the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) to draw on Singapore's expertise to develop harbors of the Suez Canal Economic Zone |
