 Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr met with Sohag Governor Ayman Abdel Monem and Undersecretary of the House of Representatives Mahmoud el Sherif.
They discussed investment opportunities in Sohag, as well as a plan to establish an investment zone in Akhmim city, the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation said They also probed a study to set up a free zone in the Upper Egyptian governorate with the aim of attracting local and foreign investments and providing job opportunities for youth. They further touched upon a 500-million-dollar project funded by the World Bank to support development in the governorate. Nasr said her ministry is working on promoting investment and supporting small and micro enterprises in the Upper Egyptian governorates which have recorded high rates of poverty and unemployment. She also expressed a desire to increase grants offered to development partners, particularly in geographic areas, which witness high illegal migration rates. El Sherif, for his part, stressed the importance of setting up an investment zone and supporting small and micro enterprises in Sohag. Such projects will contribute to supporting development and providing job opportunities for youth, he noted. The governor, meanwhile, said Sohag has all needed capabilities to attract investments. |
