Italian Ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini said that he met Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali al Moselhi to discuss means of fostering trade and investment relations.
During a meeting of the Egyptian-European Business Council, Cantini said the minister reviewed a number of projects that can be implemented via the Italian aid program. The ambassador added that Egypt can benefit from the Italian expertise in leather and ceramics production. He also hoped that the volume of trade between the two countries will increase especially after the new investment law and economic reform program in Egypt. The Egyptian economy attracts European investors’ especially Italian ones in the fields of development and natural gas production, he added. He also said that Italy and Egypt are working in Libya within the framework of the UN resolutions. Meanwhile, head of the Egyptian-European Business Council Mohamed Aboul Enin urged the ambassador to encourage Italian investors to work in Egypt and also tourists to visit Egypt. On the other hand, Cantini has asserted that Cairo has promising opportunities to promote tourism with his country. Italy seeks to increase the number of Italian tourists visiting Egypt to more than 1 million, he noted. During a meeting of the Egyptian-European Business Council, Cantini said that Italy seeks to promote cooperation with Egypt and pump more investments to the Egyptian market during the coming phase especially in the field of foodstuff industries. The Italian diplomat pointed out to some measures that can lure investors such as issuing the new investment law which has become a new mechanism to attract investments. He affirmed that the law is considered a great opportunity for investors to do business in new fields in Egypt. |
