Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan increased by 14.7 percent from a year earlier to JPY 31.8 billion (USD 282 million) in November, up for the 11th month, thanks to solid exports, the Japanese Finance Ministry said .
Kuwait posted black ink with Japan for nine years and 10 months, the ministry said in a preliminary report. Kuwaiti overall exports to Japan grew 13.7 percent year-on-year to JPY 49.4 billion (USD 438 million) for the 11th consecutive month of expansion. Imports from Japan rebounded 11.9 percent to JPY 17.6 billion (USD 156 million) for the first rise in six months. Middle East's trade surplus with Japan jumped 39.0 percen to JPY 520.4 billion (USD 4.6 billion) last month, with Japan-bound exports from the region risng 23.0 percent from a year earlier. Crude oil, refined products, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other natural resources, which accounted for 95.9 percent of the region's total exports to Japan, grew 23.3 percent. The region's overall imports from Japan slid 4.6 percent, chiefly due to sluggish shipments of automobiles. The world's third-biggest economy logged a global surplus of JPY 113.4 billion (USD 1.0 billion) in November, marking the sixth straight month of black ink, buoyed by robust demand overseas for semiconductor-making equipment, cars and steel. Overall exports gained 16.2 percent from the year before, while imports grew 17.2 percent, with value of crude oil to nflating 28.3 percent. China remained Japan's biggest trade partner, followed by the US. The trade data are measured on a customs-cleared basis before adjustment for seasonal factors. |
