A UAE delegation has participated in the Arab-Brazil Economic Forum, which was recently held in Sao Paulo, under the patronage and attendance of Brazilian President Michel Temer and a number of ministers.
The UAE delegation was headed by the UAE Consul-General to Sao Paulo Ibrahim Salem Alalawi. Representatives from the Arab League and ministers from other Arab nations were also in attendance. The forum aimed at creating and enhancing opportunities for joint cooperation between Arab countries and Brazil, in various areas in the economic sector. The forum was also attended by Mohamed Saleh Badri, Secretary-General International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF), and Mohammed Ali Al Kamali, Deputy CEO of Dubai Exports, who met with major Brazilian investors and businessmen to promote foreign investment in the UAE. An agreement was signed between UAE's IHAF and Brazil's National Institute of Metrology Standardiaation and Industrial Quality, on the sidelines of the forum, as part of efforts to stimulate trade movement between Brazil and Arab nations. The event also featured a pavilion by Dubai Airport Free Zone, introducing investors to free market opportunities in the UAE. One of the forum's main goals is to strengthen relations between Arab countries and Brazil in the hope that trade exchanges increase from US$15 billion to $20 billion, as well as to encourage the use of technology to enhance transport and facilitate trade relations. |
