Portuguese President Marcelo de Sousa said that Egypt is one of the most attractive countries for investment and represents a real force in the Arab region, adding that it enjoys a regional status that is appreciated by all international powers.
In his speech at the Egyptian-Portuguese business forum, de Sousa underlined the common issues between Egypt and Portugal, such as the successful dialogue which has reflected the size of trust between the two sides, in addition to the common culture, strong economy, political and economic stability which have boosted the trade between both countries. He stressed that the government of his country is ready to provide assistance and support to Egypt, pointing out that he considers the joint business forum a good start to maximize opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. The Portuguese president also underscored the political and economic will which connect Egypt and Portugal, adding that the two sides agreed to cooperate on six economic files, as well as implementing the agreements reached with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He pointed out to the signing of an understanding agreement between Egypt and Portugal in the economic and educational fields and to increase the volume of investments and trade exchange between the two countries during the coming period, stressing the need for continuous coordination and cooperation to address the challenges between the two countries. In addition, he said that Egypt chose Portugal as a gateway and mediator to Europe, while Portugal chose Egypt as a mediator and gateway to the region and Africa. He underscored that he discussed with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail joint investment opportunities and cooperation in the education field, pointing out to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Ain Shams and Porto universities. |
