The Government of Abu Dhabi and the State of Queensland, Australia, signed a cooperation agreement with the ultimate objective of reinforcing the strategic partnership between them in a number of economic and developmental areas.
Khalifa Bin Salem Al Mansouri, the DED’s Undersecretary, and Jackie Trad, MP for the South Brisbane Seat and Queensland Deputy Premier, Treasurer, and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, signed the agreement at the Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development, DED, with several officials from both sides in presence. The agreement renewed the general framework of strategic cooperation between the two sides by focusing on reinforcing joint effort to boost the economic, social and infrastructure development process forward in both countries. The two sides signed a similar agreement in 2013. Al Mansouri said, "Following the accelerated growth in the relationship between the two sides over the last years, the government of Abu Dhabi is pleased to renew its strategic partnership with the government of Queensland through this new agreement." "This agreement reflects the desire of the two sides to build a sustainable mechanism to support the relationships between the two sides and ultimately yield mutual benefit," he added. The relationships between Abu Dhabi and Queensland over the last years has focused on a number of fields, most notably transport, agriculture, education, expertise and knowledge exchange, implementation of best practices in port management, municipalities affairs, and emergency and crisis management, among others. "By signing this agreement, we look forward today toward expanding this relationship to cover other strategic areas, particularly in the fields of industry, environment, tourism, trade and others, which represent major platforms for building sustainable relationship and partnership," he added. Trad said, "This new agreement represents a major step toward wider prospects of developmental relationships between the two sides in many areas." |
