 The move aims to regulate the import of these materials in order to meet the needs of the local market.
Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil issued a new decree introducing new regulations for the import of scrap and waste plastic and rubber. In coordination with the Ministry of Environment, the decision allows shipments of recyclable scrap and waste plastic and rubber, that have inspection certificates from internationally-accredited laboratories, to make sure they are free of environmentally-hazardous substances. “The move aims to regulate the import of these materials in order to meet the needs of the local market,” Kabil noted. According to the new standards, only recycling factories licensed by the Industrial Development Authority can import scrap and waste plastic and rubber. |
