"The aim of Italy's participation in 'Project Lebanon' is to open up to Lebanese partners for the sake of doing business in Lebanon, neighboring countries and the Gulf," said Francesca Zadro, Director of the Italian Trade Agency, in an interview with the National News Agency.
"Our increased interest in Lebanon stems from the Lebanese government's launching of the investment program at the Cedre conference, and there will be cooperation in many fields," Zadro said. "Italy is participating in the said exhibition which will be held in Beirut from June 26 to 29, for the 12th year in a row," she noted, deeming this exhibition a platform for companies involved in the infrastructure and construction sector and interested in entering the Lebanese market and reaching other countries in the region to get together and put their work on display. "The ICE- Agency organized, with the support of the Italian Embassy, the Italian companies' participation in the exhibition. The Italian pavilion thus welcomes 16 new companies represented by 35 delegates," Zadro added, emphasizing the genuine "Italian interest in the Lebanese market and the opportunities arising from the development of the investment program and the infrastructure plan to be implemented by the Lebanese government at a cost of $ 20 million." "An ITALIA center has been set up within the Italian Pavilion to provide logistical support to Italian exhibitors and also assist the Lebanese visitors. (...) In 2017, Italy maintained its position as the biggest exporting country in Europe, with $ 1.7 billion value and a market share of 8%, compared with 2016. Imports from Italy have increased by 26%," she pointed out. |
