Agriculture Minister Ezz el Din Abu Steet opened the 34th session of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) general assembly.
Abu Steet is attending the meetings on behalf of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli with the participation of a number of Arab ministers and representatives of regional and international organizations. Addressing the session, Abu Steet said there are many investment opportunities in the agricultural domain, hoping that the meetings would come up with applicable results that will help achieve hoped-for agricultural development in the Arab region. Food and agricultural production are two pressing needs of the Arab region in light of the growing number of Arab population, he said, adding that the ministry laid down a strategy to achieve food security from strategic crops like wheat, corn and rice based on high technology and training farmers on the best cultivation methods to lower waste rates. He called for promoting inter-Arab cooperation to increase agricultural productivity and achieve food security. |
