Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that the government is keen on building the Egyptian citizen and fostering their capabilities and skills to meet the local market's needs of manpower in the IT sector.
The premier made the remarks at a meeting with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat. During the meeting, Talaat said his ministry plans to offer 10,000 training courses during the coming period, adding that he expects 80 percent of those attending the courses to get hired with a starting salary of not less than 3,000 pounds a month. The minister reviewed the latest developments of a project to connect 2,530 secondary schools to the internet by means of fiber optic cables. This project will offer about 5,000 job opportunities in five years, Talaat noted. The meeting touched on the ministry's mechanisms to achieve sustainable development through creating a common informative environment and encouraging partnerships between the government and the private sector. Talaat said that his ministry plans to raise the IT sector's growth by 12% per year and improve Egypt's position in the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) each year. |
