The Suez Canal Authority developed the international waterway to cope with new changes in the maritime transport market after a new generation of giant ships joined the international sea-borne trade fleets, an authority official said .
Osama Rabei, deputy chairman of the authority, underlined the importance of the new Suez Canal project in increasing the number of ships transiting the international waterway and lowering transit duration. Rabei was speaking with a delegation of Egyptian and American young people who are participating in the East-West: The Art of Dialogue. The delegation got updated on stages of digging the new canal. At the end of the visit, Rabei invited the delegation to visit the New Suez Canal to see by themselves the size of progress being achieved there. |
