The meeting discussed enhancing the council’s role in boosting trade and investments between Egypt and France.
Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar met with Head of the Egyptian side at the Egyptian-French Business Council Fouad Younis to discuss means of enhancing its role in pushing forward economic ties between the two countries. “The business council plays an important role in boosting bilateral trade and encouraging French companies to invest more in Egypt; France being one of Egypt’s top partners in the EU, with €4 billion worth of investment projects in the local market,” Nassar said. The meeting also went over preparations for the Egyptian fashion week in 2020, which would “widely promote Egyptian brands in the fashion industry,” he noted. The minister added that the government aims to restore Egypt’s international standing in the business of textiles ad ready-made garments. Younes, for his part, pointed to the council’s current efforts to launch a navigation line linking the ports of Alexandria and Marseilles in France, to facilitate trade movement between the two countries. Marie Louis Beshara, member of the Egyptian-French Business Council and head of the Fashion & Design Center (FDC) who also attended the meeting, highlighted that the council seeks to develop human capital in the textile industry through various specialized training programs. |
