The conference aims to familiarize the Egyptian business community with the available opportunities for mutual cooperation.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo organized- in cooperation with the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI) in Islamabad- a two-day conference marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Pakistan. Under the title “Egypt-Pakistan: A Partnership for an Economic Transformation Within the Belt and Road Initiative,” the conference aims at familiarizing the Egyptian business community with the available opportunities for mutual cooperation. “Egypt seeks to boost cooperation with Pakistan in many field, namely in: IT, communications, maritime, banking, insurance and trade,” said Ahmed Antar, head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, who participated in the event. He also emphasized the importance of the partnership between these two pivotal countries in their respective regions, noting that the Egyptian Suez Canal and Pakistani Gwadar are two of the most important ports on the Silk Road. According to the ministry’s figures, Egypt-Pakistan trade reached $200 million during 2017, with an Egyptian surplus of $30 million. |
