Jerash Mayor Ali Gogazeh and a World Bank delegation discussed key investment projects and the needs of the Greater Jerash Municipality, besides exploring ways to overcome obstacles to investment .
"Most of the obstacles are procedural ones and run contrary to the legislation governing the work of the municipality", Gogazeh told the meeting, while underlining the importance of having a higher committee for investment that works to address challenges encountered by the municipality. The municipality, he added, endeavors to build partnerships with the private and public sector through developmental ventures to realize sustainable development. Gogazeh , moreover, noted that the municipality pays closer attention to linking Jerash's archaeological site with the modern city in a bid to extend tourists' stay in the county. Investment expert at the World Bank, Emad Abu hilfah, said the meeting comes in the framework of enhancing financial administration of municipalities, a move would help improve investment schemes to achieve sustainable development, being implemented by the bank in cooperation with the ministry of municipality. A future meetings, will be held, to examine studies the municipality implements and provide advices to enhance output and help push forward new ventures, the World Bank official said |
