The Al Ain City Municipality began, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada), the work on the second stage of constructing the treated and recycled irrigation water network at a cost of AED58 million.
The work was started after completing the first stage of the biggest strategic tank of treated water in the Eastern sector by building an irrigation network and beautifying the main entrances, which provide the required quantities of irrigation water for the next 20 years for the green spaces and current and future plant assets in the sector, in accordance with the Abu Dhabi vision 2030. The first stage of the first project aimed to deliver the treated water from Al Sarooj area to Al Dhaher tank via a 15.3km line at a cost of AED50 million. Eng. Mohammed Thani Al Muhairi, Director of the Gardens and Recreational Parks Department at the Eastern Sector, said that the work on the second stage project lies in implementing main irrigation lines and four sub-lines in addition to four other sub-tanks distributed in the areas of the Eastern Sector to ensure that all of them are fed from the main tank constructed in the first stage. 'The second stage project aims to secure enough recycled water supply to irrigate the current and future plant cover and ascertain the amounts of recycled water required for the future and develop the work of natural beautification in addition to the sustainable and effective use of water. This will be accomplished while limiting the use of groundwater and complete automatic control and monitoring the irrigation system for the Eastern Sector.'' |
