In preparation for the presidency of the African Union at the beginning of 2019, Egypt will host three major economic events this month, reflecting its pivotal role in the continent and its continued support for economic issues.
The first event is the "Africa 2018 Forum" to be held in Sharm El- Sheikh from the 7th to the 9th of December 2018 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in the presence of a number of African leaders, heads of government and senior officials, Egypt and Africa. Investment Minister Sahar Nasr said that the Forum aims at providing a platform for heads of state and government as well as private sector and business leaders in Africa and the world in order to discuss a wide range of business and development issues in the Continent and to engage with some of Africa's most important economic partners and stakeholders. During the period from 11 to 17 December 2018, the largest trade fair in the continent will be launched in Cairo, in cooperation with the African Export and Import Bank and the African Union. The fair will include more than 1,500 participants from major companies and institutions. Dr. Pandikit Aurama, head of the African Export and Import Bank, said that the volume of intra-African trade does not exceed 150 billion dollars, which is small compared to the size of the continent's potential. From December 13 to 15, Egypt will host the 7th African Trade Ministers Conference, with the participation of 54 countries, to discuss trade barriers, coping mechanisms, financing opportunities and joint ventures. |
