Heba Salama, CEO of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA)'s Regional Investment Agency (RIA), stressed the importance of the private sector's role in achieving economic integration in the African Continent.
In statements to African Business Magazine, Salama said that COMESA provides full support to decision-makers in Africa to help them discuss the main issues related to economic integration among African countries and engage in a constructive dialogue between decision makers and the private sector. COMESA is committed to beef up investments in Africa and enhance global competitiveness among African countries with the view to luring more investments to Africa, she said. The 21 member states of COMESA managed to achieve sustainable growth averaging 5 percent over the past five years, with relative risk aversion for investors and investment diversification, she added. Sharm el Sheikh will host the "Africa 2018 Forum" on Saturday and Sunday, under the aegis of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The forum is organized by the Investment and International Cooperation Ministry, in cooperation with COMESA Regional Investment Agency. The forum will bring together 3,000 African and international figures. |
