Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar announced at a press conference the establishment of the biggest city for textile and clothes manufacturing in Egypt in Sadat city, northwest of Cairo.
The project, he said, will extend over an area of 3.1 million square meters to house 592 factories, and will be implemented by Chinese Shangjing Investment Co., Ltd. “The new textile city is one of the mega projects being launched in Egypt, using state-of-the-art technologies in the business,” Nassar declared. The minister also pointed out that 50% of the construction works of the 600,000 sq.m first phase have been completed, with a total cost of EGP2.1 billion, noting that it will include 150 plants. Experimental operation of some of the first phase factories will start in May, to go into full operation by the end of the year, Nassar emphasized. |
