Public Business Sector Minister Hisham Tawfiq and Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the New and Renewable Energy Authority and the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels (EGOTH), an offshoot of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels.
Under the protocol, which aims to optimize the use of solar power in EGOTH-affiliated institutions and buildings, the New and Renewable Energy Authority shall provide support for EGOTH with the aim of using renewable energy, particularly the solar power, to produce electricity or heat water. Tawfiq said the protocol conveys a positive message about the importance of using clean energy in tourist institutions, especially the state-owned hotels, in a way that can help other hotels to optimize the use of renewable energy resources. Meanwhile, the electricity minister noted that such cooperation comes within the framework of the electricity ministry’s efforts to support the spread of solar power in Egypt with the aim of diversifying electrical energy resources and encouraging the use of green energy |
