Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar asserted that Egypt is supporting the economic and social transformation in Africa to achieve the aspirations of its peoples and move ahead towards realizing sustainable development goals at all levels.
In a statement released, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said Nasser's remarks were made during his participation in "Africa Now" Conference held in the Ugandan capital Kampala. The minister's word was delivered on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Nassar conveyed the greetings of President Sisi to his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, adding that Egypt is appreciating the Ugandan vision for realizing a political integration in Africa which was floated at the recent African Summit held in February.
Minister Nassar also underlined the importance of enhancing unity among African states to face the problems of the continent.
He said Egypt has floated its comprehensive vision for standing against challenges confronting Africa during the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) meetings held in Addis Ababa in 2015.
Egypt will move forward through three axes; the first is preparing Africa for a successful and integrated economic merging through drawing on successful experiments and practices around the world, he added.
The second axis is maintaining peace and security in Africa through dispute settlement and prevention to ward off any political crisis, the minister noted.
The third axis is asserting the necessity of reviving the cultural heritage of Africa to build a better future for its people along with enhancing the role of women and youth to realize an economic growth that could restore Africa's position in the world, Nassar explained.
