Trade and Industry Minister Amr Nassar uncovered that Egypt will host the meetings of a committee on promoting the Egyptian-European sustainable economic development soon.
The meetings will discuss promoting joint cooperation in agricultural, industrial, trade, investment and services fields. The committee is one of the outcomes of the Egypt-EU partnership agreement, the minister said. This came during a session of talks with EU Ambassador to Egypt Ivan Surkos on the future of economic relations in light of the strategic partnership binding Egypt with the EU member states. Nassar said that consolidating economic and trade ties with the EU tops his ministry's priorities, adding that the EU is Egypt's first trade partner. Cairo is keen to achieve a leap in the European-African cooperation in light Egypt's presidency of the African Union, he said. For his part, Surkos asserted that Egypt is one of the most important partners to the EU in the Middle East region and Africa. Coordination is underway between the European Commission here and the Suez Canal Authority to hold a conference with the participation of European businessmen and banks by the end of the year to probe investment opportunities in the Canal region, Surkos said. |
