The UAE and Australia today reviewed prospects for widening the scope of cooperation across various fronts.
This came during the UAE- Australia Business Roundtable, which was organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to mark the visit of a high-profile Australian 50-member delegation headed by Roland Jabbour, Chairman of the Arabic-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI). The Roundtable aimed at providing businesspersons from both sides with the opportunity to discuss investment opportunities up for grabs. Jabbour underlined the steady growth in bilateral trade relations between the two countries and the role of the meeting in advancing cooperation to a higher level. He hailed the distinctive geographic location of Sharjah and the emirate's great potential to draw lucrative FDI inflows into the sectors of education, culture, trade, logistics, tourism, and industry. The international official commended as well the advanced infrastructure of the emirate and the legislative incentives provided for the private sector to maintain Sharjah's position as a leading regional business and investment hub. Abdullah Sultan Al Oweis, SCCI Board Chairman, said the trade exchanges between the two countries amounted to $3.3 billion in 2017, noting the determination of the two sides to accelerate cooperation in the fields of education, construction, finance, insurance and CIT. |
