Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) Mohab Mamish said that the project of the New Suez Canal succeeded in improving the offered navigation services.
The improved services have enhanced the pioneering status of the international waterway as the shortest and most important navigation route connecting the East and the West, he noted. Inspecting the navigation movement and the passage of the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, Mamish hailed the measures taken by the Armed Forces personnel to secure the world trade movement in the waterway as well as the facilities of the Suez Canal Authority. Mamish met also with the Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché at the US Embassy in Cairo Major General Ralph Groover who appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the SCA. Fourty-three ships crossed the Suez Canal on Thursday with a cargo of 3.2 million tons, Mamish said. The south-bound convoy included 25 vessels carrying 1.8 million tons, while the north-bound one included 18 ships laden with 1.4 million tons, he added. |
