The Ministry of Economy said that retail companies were committed to reducing their prices during the holy month of Ramadan, as well as decreasing the number of consumer complaints and offering discounts of between 35 and 75 percent, according to the ministry's plan.
During a consumer protection monitoring tour in the retail stores in Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Hashim Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Ministry’s Consumer Protection Department, said that the ministry had not recorded any pricing violations since the start of Ramadan. He also expressed the ministry’s happiness at the discounts offered since the start of the Holy Month, which increased consumer satisfaction. Compared to last year, the number of warnings sent to retail companies related to raising prices decreased by 30 percent during the first week of Ramadan, an official from the ministry stated. |
