Egypt's Ambassador to Algeria Ayman Mosharafa has discussed in a meeting with Algerian Trade Minister Saeed Jalab means of boosting trade exchange and joint investments between the two countries.
Speaking to MENA correspondent , Mosharafa said the meeting comes as part of the Egyptian embassy's efforts to push forward bilateral economic relations in a manner that reflects distinguished political relations between Cairo and Algiers. The volume of trade exchange between the two countries does not demonstrate their special political relations, the ambassador said, adding that Egypt's imports from Algeria hit approximately USD 300 million, while its exports to the North African country reached USD 500 million. He called for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the tourism industry, given the two countries' expertise in this sector. The ambassador urged facilitating visa issuance for Egyptian businessmen, as a means for promoting joint investments in the field of tourism and trade. Mosharafa handed over the Algerian minister an invitation from Egyptian Trade Minister Amr Nassar to participate in the first Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Business Forum in Cairo in June. For his part, the Algerian trade minister lauded the activities of Egyptian companies working in Algeria, saying there are big opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in different areas, especially the economic one. |
