 The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and all banks operating in Egypt will be having a five-day holiday as of Tuesday, June 4, 2019 on the occasion of Eidul Fitr (Lesser Bairam) in line with a previous announcement by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), banking and EGX sources said.
Banks will reopen as of Sunday,, June 9, 2019, they told MENA on Monday, citing a CBE press release as having said. Nothing has changed as far as the vacation is concerned, they said. Egypt's Mufti Shawki Allam announced earlier on Monday that Wednesday, June 5, 2019 will be the first day of Eidul Fitr in Egypt. The new moon crescent has not been sighted after the sunset today, said the Mufti in a press release. Thus Tuesday, June 4, 2019 will be the last day of the holy month of Ramadan and Wednesday will be the first day of the month of Shawal, added the Mufti’s statement. |
