The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dell GmbH of Germany to deepen the domestic manufacturing of smart meters and make good use of the German technology in this regard.
The deal comes as part of the organization's strategy to increase the ratio of local components in the national industries, the AOI said in a statement released . Following the signing ceremony, AOI Chairman Abdel Moneim el Tarras said they are keen on implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to deepen the domestic manufacturing of smart meters, in collaboration with world experts, the statement added. As per the MoU, the two sides will work on boosting cooperation with regard to the transfer of technical expertise and training of human cadres, with the aim of strengthening the local industry and developing the technology of making water and gas meters, according to international quality specifications, the statement read. The two companies will also probe fostering their partnership, with a view to meeting the local market's needs and the Arab region, as well as tapping new exporting markets in Africa, the statement quoted el Tarras as saying. Dell GmbH of Germany will be responsible for training the AOI engineers and technicians on how to assemble and manufacture smart meters, el Tarras added, stressing the importance of benefiting from the German expertise in this area. For their part, the German company's representatives lauded the AOI great manufacturing and human capabilities, besides its ability to modernize technology with the usage of scientific methods, the statement noted. Also, the German officials expressed their willingness to open up new horizons for cooperation, covering the different manufacturing fields. |
