 The Association of African Central Banks (AACB) has chosen the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to be the vice-chairperson of the association for the Northern Africa sub-region for the coming session 2019-2020.
The AACB, which groups 40 African central banks, ratified the decision during its meeting on Wednesday with Tunisia to be the chairperson of the 2019-2020 edition. CBE Governor Tarek Amer handed over the presidency of the AACB to the governor of the National Bank of Rwanda on the sidelines of the association's 42nd annual meetings. The CBE hosted in August 2018 the meetings of the AACB for the first time since the association's establishment in 1968. The association groups around 40 African central banks and is responsible for implementing the African Union program of monetary cooperation. |
