The annual inflation rate declined to 7.8 percent in July according to a monthly statement issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In the statement, CAPMAS explained that on a monthly basis the rate dropped by 1.5 percent in July compared to June, hitting 312.5 points against 307.8. The statement added that the inflation rate from January to July reached 11.7 percent due to the increase in fuel prices in July, compared to the 8 percent during June of last year. Previously, Egypt’s annual consumer price inflation rose to 8.9 percent in June 2019, compared to 13.8 percent in June 2018. |
