Egyptian exports to the global market recorded an increase of 32.7 percent to hit $29.2 billion in 2018, up from $26.3 and $22.5 billion in 2017 and 2016, respectively, the cabinet media centre said .

In an infograph posted on the centre's official website, the centre attributed the improvement in Egypt's foreign trade volume to the increase in the exports' value by two percent in the first half of 2019, registering $15.3 billion up from $15 billion during the same period in 2018. Among the five most exported commodities, Egypt's exports of fuel, mineral oils and their distilled products constituted $7.2 billion, plastics $1.8 billion, electrical devices $1.6 billion, heavy metals $1.5 billion and fruits $1.4 billion. . Italy received the largest amount of Egyptian exports in 2018, which amounted to $2.04 billion, followed by the UAE, Turkey, the United States and Saudi Arabia. . Egypt was the largest exporter of aluminum chips in 2018, the second largest exporter of carpets and textiles, the fourth in exporting steel bars, alloys and phosphate fertilisers and the fifth in exporting nitrogen fertilisers and cotton threads, the centre said. |
