President of the World Bank (WB) David Malpass has underlined growing international confidence in the Egyptian economy despite the slow growth of world economy and political turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Malpass in New York
Sisi stressed that Egypt is keen to keep consultation and dialogue with the bank and cement fruitful ties between both sides to support development efforts since the bank is one of the most important development partners for Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said. The WB president affirmed that the bank backs development reforms in Egypt as a model for the region and developing countries. Malpass said the bank is keen on enhancing growing cooperation with Egypt, including projects carried out in the fields of infrastructure, transport, energy, education, health, private sector development and SMEs, among others. The meeting also reviewed positive economic development in Egypt, as Sisi pointed out that his country has taken big steps on economic reform, the implementation of major development projects and women empowerment, Radi added. |
