World Bank Group President David Malpass and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva praised Egypt’s economic and legislative reforms and efforts to ameliorate the investment environment, applauding Benban solar power park which the bank chose as its most successful project in the world this year.
This came at the opening session of the the WB annual meetings in Washington in which Egypt was represented by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr. Ms. Georgieva said Egypt succeeded to establish a social protection net to support and aid its people while facing the burdens of implementing its economic reform program. Malpass lauded the successes achieved by Egypt in carrying out renewable energy projects, including that of Benban solar park in Aswan, noting that the reforms undertaken by Egypt especially in the energy sector have attracted many private investments to the Egyptian market. |
