Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted the importance of continuous follow up of renovation work at El Attaba market, Cairo's biggest and most popular commercial and shopping areas.
The project to restore and upgrade the market which is always teeming with shoppers, came upon the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi after part of it was badly damaged by a fire that it witnessed in June.. During a cabinet meeting he chaired ,Madbouli reviewed the latest developments of the renovation project and gave directives to expand the market by annexing an adjacent empty piece of land to its area.. Opened in 1892, El Attaba market was the first market of its kind in Khedival Cairo to be built on an area of 5,200 square meters.. Twelve alleys intercept the iconic market which is located in a strategic busy low-price commercial area in downtown Cairo that links the streets of El Attar, El Azhar and El Morgan.. The market offers everything from clothes to paper decorations, upholstery fabrics, household appliances, electric and electronic devices and furniture. |
