Head of the Beirut Merchants Association, Nicolas Chammas, announced Tuesday that the Economic Committees have decided to stop work for three days amid the hard currency crisis in the country.
"Six months ago, we have warned of the USD crisis and we have said that the Lebanese are hiding their money inside their houses considering the lack of confidence," Chammas told a press conference following a meeting for the Economic Committees. "The fireball has reached merchants and some private companies. This is unbearable and the state must shoulder its responsibility," he said. "The Economic Committees have decided a three-day work stoppage to create a general climate to press for the formation of a government that satisfies the civil society, businessmen, and the international community," he indicated. |
