Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Sameer Abdulla Nass, has expressed pride in the meeting of the Bahraini-Saudi Joint Business Council, held here today, in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain, HRH Prince Sultan bin Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and more than 100 businessmen and businesswomen from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Nass, who chaired the Bahraini side during the meeting, stressed that the unique and distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries’ leaderships and peoples require businessmen in the two kingdoms to adopt initiatives that would open up new horizons for the solid Bahraini-Saudi trade and economic cooperation, on the one hand, and serve the joint GCC march, on the other. He said that there are new fields in which the business sectors in the two kingdoms could enhance their cooperation, citing the real estate, fish farming, maritime transport and tourism and hospitality sectors. Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Otaishan, who chaired the Saudi side at the meeting, affirmed that the business community in Saudi Arabia shares the desire of its Bahraini counterpart to bolster and broaden bilateral cooperation, wishing the meeting every success in coming up with new ideas, visions and joint projects. Statistics indicate that the volume of Bahraini-Saudi trade exchange had reached about 33.7 billion Saudi riyals in 2018, compared to about 27.2 billion Saudi riyals, making an increase of 24%. Saudi exports to Bahrain represented 81.9%, reaching 27.6 billion Saudi riyals, while Bahraini exports to Saudi Arabia represented 18.1%, or 6 billion Saudi riyals. Bahrain is Saudi Arabia’s second GCC country regarding the volume of bilateral trade, and its 12th partner at the international level. The Bahraini-Saudi Joint Business Council asserted that the private sector in the two countries would continue taking more initiatives to boost economic relations between the two countries. |
