Egypt's non-petroleum exports increased in 2019, reaching 25.49 billion dollars compared with 25.14 billion the year before, said the General Organization For Export and Import Control (GOEIC) .
GOEIC chairman Ismail Gaber put the value of non-petroleum exports during December 2019 at 2.126 billion dollars. Egypt's food exports increased to 283 million dollars in December up from 251 million during the same month in 2018, Gaber said in a statement. He also underscored a rise in exports of construction materials during December 2019, reaching 492 million dollars compared with 473 million in the same month of the previous year. Egypt's non-petroleum imports declined in December 2019 by 18 percent, registering 5.292 billion dollars compared with 6.473 billion during the same period the year before, Gaber said. The downturn in imports was reported in 12 sectors, topped by leather and agricultural products which dropped by 28 and 24 percent respectively, he added. Medical and furniture imports also declined by 22 and 21 percent respectively, according to the GOEIC chairman. MENA |
