The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, in partnership with the Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans, approved funding for 39 new projects for military retirees.
Planning Minister Nassir Shriedeh said that the funding comes within a package of projects of the Economic and Social Productivity Enhancement program, and within a loan portfolio designed and established by the ministry to finance and implement small income-generating productive projects that create job opportunities for military retirees and local community members. During the period 2018-2020, Shriedeh indicted, the ministry allotted JOD3 million for the loan portfolio from the allocations of the Economic and Social Productivity Enhancement program. He pointed out that 623 enterprises across the Kingdom were funded, adding that 50 additional projects will be approved and financed by the end of the year, creating at least 1,100 job opportunities for military retirees and members of local communities. Funding for these projects, the minister stated, will be provided through an interest-free loan, in addition to securing the necessary facilitations for the success and sustainability of these projects, including economic feasibility studies and technical, consultative and training support upon request, in addition to following up on the implementation and operation of the projects through the ministry-affiliated "Irada" centers spread in various regions of the Kingdom. He stated that the ministry is currently considering increasing the capital of the loan portfolio by an additional one million dinars in 2021 to finance more than 300 new productive projects following an increase in demand from military retirees to implement more productive income-generating projects. Shriedeh commended the 'fruitful' cooperation between the Ministry and the Association to support productive income-generating projects and provide job opportunities for military retirees and local community members. |
