Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat has said that the government seeks to encourage the private sector to contribute to the Green Economy Transition (GET) efforts meant to abide by environmental standards in executing development projects and facing challenges that threaten human survival.Mbr.
Mashat's remarks came during her speech delivered by Sherin Taha, assistant minister for cooperation with international funding institutions, at the opening of a new production line of recycled plastic bottles at BariQ factory. The new line's inauguration is part of an initiative dubbed "World Without Waste" launched by Coca Cola in 2018 with the aim to recycle used bottles until 2030. The international cooperation minister hailed such initiatives as "a successful model of cooperation" that serves the transformation to green and circular economies. She noted that the government pays great attention to green finance, citing the issuance of green bonds in September 2020, which made Egypt the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to offer five-year sovereign green bonds worth $750 million on global markets. |
