Dr. Hala El-Said , Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, held a meeting with representatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with the participation of 33 ambassadors from the member states of the organization with an economic weight at the global level, such as the United States, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, England, and others.
The meeting was held via video conference in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning, to discuss the country program for Egypt. El-Said explained that the meeting was aimed at mobilizing political support for Egypt through country ambassadors on the results of economic reform in Egypt, in addition to discussing the country program for Egypt and its five axes. She added that the program will allow Egypt to enhance its participation in technical committees and work committees in various fields that formulate international economic and development policies, thus enhancing Egypt's regional and international role. El-Said explained that Egypt is seeking, through the formulation of a country program in cooperation with the OECD to develop a framework that coordinates the various cooperation initiatives currently in place in several areas with the organization, adding that the program also aims to support development in priority areas for the Egyptian government and to promote evidence-based policies bydeveloping monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to measure the impact of policies. The minister referred to the five axes of the program, which include the axis of public governance and anti-corruption, innovation, creativity and sectoral development, the statistics and follow-up axis, comprehensive and sustainable economic and social development, and finally the axis of sustainable development goals, environment, and infrastructure. The ambassadors of the attending countries praised the reforms witnessed by Egypt, as well as the investments and tangible developments in the current situation. They also offered cooperation with the Egyptian state in many fields. The attendees discussed the vision about the status of women in the reforms taking place in Egypt, the digital transformation system, and linking technology with structural and economic reforms. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is an international organization aimed at economic development and formulating policies that promote prosperity and equality for all, as well as to assist governments and policymakers in establishing evidence-based international standards and finding solutions to social, environmental, and economic challenges. |
