Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla said all state institutions rallied their efforts to preserve lives of people and at the same time keep the production process going on during the Covid 19 pandemic.
He added that Egypt is among the few countries that succeeded in achieving economic growth in 2019/2020 despite the negative repercussions of the pandemic outbreak. Addressing the fourth edition of Al Ahram's annual energy conference, the minister said energy plays an important role in achieving sustainable development. Since March, he said the ministry was able to achieve a balance between the continuation of production lines and preserving the lives of people through applying necessary precautions and reducing workforce at different sites. This year, the entire world faced unprecedented challenge that left a negative impact on different sectors, he added. We are determined to face our challenges and problems in a serious and transparent way to create a better future, he said. The conference, dubbed Harvest of Reform and Future of Development, tackles the strategy of the energy sector in Egypt, investment opportunities in energy and the development of the petroleum sector in terms of research, exploration, and the refining process. Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla, and other leading officials and experts from the energy sector are attending the conference. |
