Finance Minister Mohamed Maait launched the first phase of the automated unified tax procedures system at centers for medium and large-sized taxpayers, as well as major liberal professions.
The minister also opened taxpayer service centers known as “front offices”, and met with representatives of the relevant departments, to follow up on the quality of service and the competence of workers tasked with responding to the inquiries of financiers. Maait also inaugurated the self-service halls at the centers for medium and large-sized taxpayers, as well as major liberal professions, which aim to assist financiers and taxpayers, as well as providing the necessary technical support in self-dealing with the automated unified tax procedures system. Maait explained that the launch of the system's first phase is part of the national project to modernize and automate the tax management system, which includes automating 64 sub-procedures of the main tax work. He noted that the electronic billing system has been launched beforehand, with a view to facilitating procedures for financiers and taxpayers. The minister went on to say that financiers or taxpayers can now visit the site of the Egyptian Tax Authority with the unified tax registration number for submitting all forms of tax returns, based on the type of activity. He added the four-stage tax procedures system will be applied to all governorates before the end of 2022. The application of the new digital system is part of the Egyptian Tax Authority's plan for simplifying tax procedures and enhancing the competence of human cadres and modernizing the information infrastructure, the minister said. He pointed out that Egypt was one of the leading countries in the Middle East and Africa to implement the electronic billing system, which was launched in mid-November 2020. |
