Minister of Trade and Industry Nivine Gamea asserted the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) is aiming to shift to the African market to expand trade exchange with African countries, especially COMESA member states.
The Agency is also acting to support the competitiveness of different projects, added Gamea who is CEO of the MSMEDA. The Minister noted that women in particular will benefit from the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and its fellow African countries, highlighting the launching of the “50 Million African Women Speak” (50MAWSP) platform which brings together 38 African countries. Gamea’s remarks came in comment on an announcement made by COMESA that Egypt tops the list of the 50MAWSP users among Member States. In Egypt, 44,000 persons are using the platform, according to statistics covering the period from July 2019 to April 2022. The “50 Million African Women Speak” platform aims to facilitate a dynamic and engaging exchange of ideas among women entrepreneurs, using in-built social media functionality to connect them with one another in ways that will foster peer-to-peer learning, mentoring and the sharing of information and knowledge within communities, and access to financial services and market opportunities between urban and rural areas, and across borders and between countries. Egypt became the seventh COMESA Member State to launch the 50MAWSP at a colorful event held in Cairo on 18 November 2020. |
